In a press conference via video link hosted by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan from Beirut, Carlos Ghosn clarified that his $1 billion lawsuit against Nissan is not driven by vengeance but by the desire for accountability.

“What I’m looking for is not revenge… I just want to make sure that all the criminals and the plotters cannot sleep quietly in their beds after what they have committed.”

He emphasized that Nissan caused “a lot of damage” to him financially and personally, and that the lawsuit is a means to regain a portion of his rights:

“The only thing I can obtain is a small compensation.”

Ghosn also shared his thoughts on the current state of the Renault–Nissan alliance, noting that while there is still considerable distrust, leaders are working toward what he termed a “mini alliance”:

“What you are going to see is a kind of a very small and reduced cooperation between two companies”

He described the departure of Nissan’s former COO Ashwani Gupta as a “soap opera” but remained firm on pushing for transparency and structural reform.
